Corky’s Ribs and Barbeque is a dine in and carry out restaurant located in the tri-state areas of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas in the Unites States. Customers can order online combos, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, beef, sauces and seasonings, apparel and more. Included in the dine in menu are ans assortment of starters, salads, sandwiches, ribs, dinners, beverages, desserts and so on. Online customers can pick a time and date for delivery of any item on the carry out menu that may have ordered. Similarly, for pick up too, customers can select a day and time for pick-up of their order from their nearest Corky’s.

Challenges
The client had already sent out an offer to about 10000 customers that claim that if the input is FR1, a slab of ribs will be added to the shopping cart for free. The advanced coupon code module does not “add products” to the cart; it only discounts products that the customer has put in their cart. However, since the client had already sent the offer to 10000 people, we needed to find some way to make FR1 work as the client has explained it to their 10000 customers. In short, we needed the coupon FR1 to add a free slab of ribs to the customers cart for free ASAP.
Solutions
As the need was urgent, an open cart module, free products with coupon vQmod had to be purchased. Whether or not the newly purchased open cart will work with “advanced coupons”, time will tell. Advanced coupons or the module moves coupon entry field into the shopping cart rather than at the checkout. The free products with coupon vQmod extension purportedly works with the regular coupon part of Open Cart, so there is reason to believe and to indeed be optimistic that seamless integration with the advanced coupons would be possible. The real test was installing the free products with coupon vQmod on the dev server and set up the FR1 coupon for a free slab of ribs. Alternatively FR1 would have to be hard coded on the coupon system so that FR1 adds the 1 Slab of Ribs product to the cart for free.
